Aerospace & Defense Coordinator

Reports to the Chief Operating Officer (COO)/Chief, Aerospace & Defense Programs

 

*Full Time (40 hrs. week, M-F)

Benefits: Health Insurance, 401K, 17 paid holidays

Salary: $50,000-$60,000

*Part time may also be an option. Salary and benefits will be different.

 

Assists the COO/Chief Aerospace & Defense (A&D) Programs with:

 

Growing the Chamber’s A&D program by:

  • Increasing A&D Chamber Memberships.
  • Increasing Defense Council sponsorships.
  • Expanding Armed Forces Recognition Luncheon sponsorships.
  • Working closely with Aurora Economic Development Council to determine prospective members.
  • Creating tiered A&D membership levels with exclusive benefits.
  • Meeting regularly with high level investors.

 

Supporting service members from all branches of service in the eastern metro area.

 

Ensuring a strong community awareness of the Chamber’s Defense Council and the Aerospace & Defense Industry.

Revamping webpages.

 

Planning and coordinating:

  • Monthly Defense Council Executive Committee meetings and annual planning meeting/retreat.
  • Monthly Defense Council meetings.
  • Annual State of the Base.
  • Annual Armed Forces Recognition Luncheon.

 

Monitoring legislation/political issues that may have an impact on military units in the area or diminish the ability of business to work successfully with the military. Working with local military and local, state, federal leaders to address/resolve the issues.

 

Monitoring veterans’ issues both locally and state-wide and recommends selected legislation through the Executive Committee to the Chamber Board of Directors for support.

 

Connecting military units with local support agencies and Chamber members with military leadership.

 

Required Knowledge and Skills

 

· Military veteran

· Five years of similar work experience in program management

· Event Planning Experience

· Associate degree

· Self-Starter – needs little if any direction/supervision.

· Action Oriented – Works hard, seizes opportunities, and takes on challenging tasks.

· Adaptive - Can effectively cope with change and doesn’t get upset with uncertainty.

· Attention to Detail accomplishing a task through concern for all the areas involved, no matter how small.

· Composed – Cool under pressure and does not become irritated and/or defensive during tough times. Handles stress well.

· Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite – Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint

· Organized – highly organized and self-motivated.

· Works well with others – Can quickly find common ground with co-workers for the good of the organization.

· Effective Communicator – Possesses strong oral and written communication skills.

· Creative and Innovative – Comes up with new and unique ideas and solutions.

· Able to Troubleshoot Information Technology Systems – Computers, printers, phones, etc.

· Strong Presentation Skills – Able to give formal presentations to individuals and small, medium, and large groups.

· Effective Time Manager – Focuses on what’s important and able to accomplish tasks in a timely manner.
