The members of Leadership Aurora 2026 have seen firsthand the vital role that Sēb’s Recreation Center plays in our community. Sēb’s is dedicated to empowering individuals with special needs and unique challenges through community outreach, health and wellness, recreation, and education that promotes learning opportunities designed to strengthen and develop lives.
After walking the halls and meeting with the team, we have chosen to focus our class project on transforming this space into a 100% accessible, flexible, and inclusive hub for the 1000+ community members who call it home.
Our Vision: Accessibility & Community
Sēb’s Rec Center is a sanctuary for fitness, therapy, and connection. However, to truly serve everyone, the space requires a strategic overhaul. Our project focuses on two primary pillars:- Total Accessibility: Creating "room to move" by redesigning the layout to ensure those in wheelchairs have seamless access to fitness and therapeutic areas.
- Adaptive Flexibility: Implementing smart, mobile storage solutions and modular furniture. By consolidating storage and utilizing the center’s 11-foot ceilings, we will unlock underutilized floor space for games, crafts, and community gathering.
The Goal: $15,000+
The Leadership Aurora Class of 2026 is requesting donations from local businesses and, specifically, from the employers who sponsor our class members. We are asking each member to solicit their employer for support. A "nudge" from a trusted team member is often all a business needs to contribute to a life-changing cause.Your donation will fund:
- New, modular furniture and rolling storage systems to maximize floor space.
- Updated flooring and ceiling tile replacement to refresh the environment.
- The creation of a dedicated "Community Area" and an Art Wall to showcase the children’s creativity.
- Privacy solutions for confidential meetings and personnel management.
