Athletic Specialist

The Athletic Specialist will ensure a fun, safe, and inclusive environment for all participants while building positive relationships that motivate and inspire young athletes.
The Athletic Specialist plans, supervises and implements a variety of high-yield activities and targeted programs within healthy lifestyles and physical activities. Low organized programs can include: yoga, Play60 programming, fitness challenges, Red Light Green Light, Protect the Penguin and scooter races. This role is also responsible for coaching intramural and team sports activities including: baseball, softball, basketball, football, soccer, and volleyball for their club members.
Minimum Qualifications
- 1 year of direct service working with youth.
- Experience in coaching, sports instruction or recreation programming.
- A team player with strong communication and leadership skills.
- Ability to engage, mentor and motivate youth.
- A valid driver's license and ability to be insured under the company's insurance policy (at least 21 years of age and valid license for at least 3 years with no major violations).
- Able to work the Club Hours (1:30 PM - 8:30 PM; school year)(9:00 AM - 5:00 PM; summer); Tuesday - Saturday (during season); Monday - Friday (out of season and during summer)
Preferred Qualifications
- You are a Spanish speaker.
- Boys & Girls Club experience
- Experience playing sports

Conditions of Employment
- Must be able to pass a criminal and driving records investigations, and reference checks.
- A valid driver's license and ability to be insured under the company's insurance policy (at least 21 years of age and valid license for at least 3 years with no major violations).
- The successful candidate will primarily work indoors. Accordingly, the ability to use a variety of equipment including janitorial and office equipment is required. The job requires the ability to stand for extended periods, kneel, reach, bend, and lift objects weighing in excess of 25 lbs. Outdoor work and moderate physically demanding activities may be required on occasion.
- The ability to read and write is necessary to complete reports, properly document programs, and utilize organizational data.
- CPR/First Aid certification (provided by BGCMD)
Status: Full-time (32 hours per week) , non-exempt
Hourly Base Wage: $20.50
Hours: 1:30 p.m. – 8:30 p.m. during the school year, hours vary but fall between 9:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m. during the summer
