Susan Fries, MBA, History Colorado Deputy Community Museum Officer and Director of the Center for Colorado Women’s History. Over the past two decades, Fries has guided, informed and worked intimately with a variety of non-profits, for-profit business, and local and state governments to advance the creative industries as an economic development model.  Fries has served on grant review panels for the National Endowment for the Arts.  In 2019, she began to work for History Colorado as the Director of Fundraising Community Museums and moved to her current position in Denver in 2022.

We'll peek into the future to see the radical transformation of a traditional house museum into the Center for Colorado Women's History. We'll explore the process, current success, and expected outcomes from the inception of the Center in 2018 through 2026, the 150th anniversary of Colorado Statehood. The current director, Susan Fries, will describe the co-authored approach to exhibits at History Colorado and how the staff navigates this standard of community participation. Some examples of this work will detail the rejuvenation of an advisory council, a robust intern program, a connection with neighbors and partners, and radically experimenting with the History Colorado collections.
