Quality Aspects
- The Mobile Mammography Screening Program is owned and operated by University of Colorado Hospital. This includes equipment, technical and clerical staff and radiologists.
- The equipment is Hologic Dimensions 3-D Tomosynthesis unit fully accredited by the American College of Radiology and licensed by the FDA.
- All screening images are interpreted by our radiologists within 48 hours, unless previous images need to be obtained.
- Computer Aided Detection (CAD) is utilized on all images for final interpretation.
- Result letters are sent to the patient and their Primary Care Provider within 10 days of the mammogram.
- If there is an area of concern interpreted by the radiologist that requires further evaluation, the patient will be contacted by the Patient Navigator and also sent a letter. The patient's PCP will also be notified.
- Once results are final and mailed to patient, a summary letter will be sent to the employer containing the number of patients screened and the number of those who require further testing. There will be no confidential information contained in this letter (i.e., name, date of birth, etc.) about the individuals screened.
Participants need to fill out the Patient Screening Form provided and bring their current insurance card and photo I.D. Participants do not need a prescription from the PCP to have their screening mammogram.
Previous Films
Participants should bring all previous films on the day of their screening mammogram. They may use the release of records authorization form provided to obtain their previous films. These can be sent directly to University of Colorado Hospital (7 days time should be allowed for delivery). The form can be found in the registration packet. Previous films are very important to the interpretation of their study. The radiologists need these films to perform a comparative study of their images. University of Colorado Hospital will retain these films unless specified by the participant.
University of Colorado Hospital follows the American Cancer Society and National Cancer Institute recommendations for screening mammography:
A woman CAN get a mammogram if:
- She is age 40 + : screening mammogram once a year
- She gives the name of a primary care provider (Patient must have PCP or OB/GYN)
