SPARK Centennial is the City of Centennial's six-month business accelerator program that provides Centennial small businesses a platform to share their expertise, create memorable customer experiences, and collaborate with fellow small entrepreneurs and businesses. This year's program is focused on turning ideas into action, helping businesses answer one key question: What project would you love to tackle for your business, but haven’t been able to because of time, budget or resource constraints? 

SPARK 2026 participant, Cheryl Chaiasson, owner of Bio One of Denver, has answered this question in creating her event: Behind Closed Doors: Biohazards & Illicit Drug Contamination Awareness on Tuesday, September 15 from 8:15-10am at The Village Work, Wellness, and Event Center.

As a residential or commercial property manager — or an owner — you're often the first on the scene when the unexpected shows up: an undiscovered death, a suicide, a meth- or fentanyl-contaminated unit, a sewage backup, a hoarding situation, hidden mold. These aren't your everyday turnovers, and handling them the wrong way can put your tenants, your owners, and you at real health and legal risk.
This lively, one-hour, in-person course gives you a practical playbook for spotting and responding to biohazards and illicit drug contamination before they become your liability.

• Recognize the warning signs of meth and fentanyl contamination, trauma and death scenes, blood and infectious materials, sewage, hoarding, pests, and mold
• ?Understand that a persistent odor is rarely "just a smell" — it can point to any number of hidden biohazard conditions, from decomposition and drug residue to sewage and mold
• Apply Colorado's disclosure and cleanup rules for meth-affected property
• Take the right first steps , and avoid the costly wrong ones, like cleaning it up yourself
• Protect your tenants, owners, and business from exposure and liability
