SUMMARY:Diversity & Inclusion Presents Colorado Technical University
DESCRIPTION:Join us for a presentation by Colorado Technical University who will discuss:\n\n\n\nPandemic Workplace Blues: How to Connect with Others Through Inclusive Leadership\n\n\n\nAre your kids screaming or asking questions about homework while you are trying to conduct a virtual business meeting or do your dogs and cats want to disrupt you right at the moment you need to listen to something important your boss has to say? Do you feel your employer doesn't understand what you are going through and how to best support you during these challenging times?\n\n\n\nMany organizations have lost key and diverse employees during the pandemic\, which resulted in productivity and profit losses. Sometimes it can be a challenge to find highly skilled employees for positions and/or costs a significant amount of money to find and train new employees. \n\n\n\nThis presentation will help managers to learn how to become a more inclusive leader to help maintain key individuals in the workplace\, so they can close any equity gaps and maintain employee engagement. \n\n \n\nMajor takeaways: \n\n\n	Identify management approaches to help improve diversity\, equity\, and inclusion efforts. \n	Identify communication approaches for leaders to maintain staff members. \n	Develop a plan to improve employee engagement from a leader's perspective in the workplace whether it is remote or hybrid. \n\n\nGuest speaker\, Trish Elley\, PhD\, has been in higher education for over 18 years. Currently\, she is a Business Lead Instructor for Colorado Technical University. In this position\, she supports and develops business faculty online and on campus. She also focuses her time on campus and online projects and events to increase career readiness for CTU students. Some the favorite things she likes to do outside of work are: hiking\, play golf and tennis with her kids\, reading\, and painting. \n\n\n\nGuest speaker\, Sherri Adams\, received her Doctor of Management\, with an emphasis in Organizational Leadership\, and her Professional of Human Resources (PHR) in 2015. Currently\, serves as an Assistant Professor of Business at Colorado Technical University\, where she was nominated Distinguished Faculty of the Year in 2019 and 2020. In addition\, she serves as the Human Resources Director for Solace Pediatric Home Healthcare.\n\n\n\nAurora Chamber of Commerce Diversity & Inclusion Mission: to promote diversity and inclusion in the business community through education\, outreach\, networking\, mentoring and recognition programs that engage our entire community and support our business leaders.\n \n\nAurora Chamber of Commerce Diversity & Inclusion Vision: to transform our diverse business communities into environments where all businesses are valued for their uniqueness and differences\, and are confident that their contributions matter.\n\n \n\nAurora Chamber of Commerce Diversity & Inclusion Purpose: to encourage business to business networking\, improving the business climate and making this community prosperous\, economically attractive and desirable as a place to work\, live and buy local.\n\n\n\nThank you for your support of the Aurora Chamber of Commerce and the Women in Business Committee. The Aurora Chamber consistently strives to provide access\, advocacy\, and influence for our members through our programs and committees. We can only be successful if we retain existing members and attract new members. Please help us by inviting someone as your guest to our next meeting.\n\n\n\nThe Diversity and Inclusion Council is sponsored by Pinnacol Assurance.
