DESCRIPTION:Mission: to promote diversity and inclusion in the business community through education\, outreach\, networking\, mentoring and recognition programs that engage our entire community and support our business leaders.\n\n \n\nVision: to transform our diverse business communities into environments where all businesses are valued for their uniqueness and differences\, and are confident that their contributions matter. \n\n \n\nPurpose: to encourage business to business networking\, improving the business climate and making this community prosperous\, economically attractive and desirable as a place to work\, live and buy local.\n\n\n\n"Climbing the Leadership Ladder" - best practices/advice on helping women and minorities get into leadership positions.\n\n \nDr. Brenda J. Allen is the Vice Chancellor for Diversity and Inclusion at the University of Colorado Denver | Anschutz Medical Campus. She also is a Professor of Communication. Her scholarship focuses on organizational communication and diversity.\n\nDr. Allen was recruited from Howard University to the University of Colorado Boulder in 1989 as an Assistant Professor.  Since then\, she has been promoted to Professor\, and she has served as a Department Chair and Associate Dean. \n\nShe assumed her recent role as Chief Diversity Officer in August of 2012.  Among her numerous publications is a groundbreaking book entitled Difference Matters: Communicating Social Identity. She presents keynote speeches\, conducts workshops\, and offers consultation on topics such as inclusive leadership\, inclusion in the workplace\, strategic planning\, implicit bias\, culturally responsive teaching\, and recruitment/retention practices.\n\n\nSponsored by Pinnacol Assurance.
