DESCRIPTION:The Aurora Police Department's K-9 Unit was formed in 1975 and had one dog: Moose. Today\, more than 30 years later\, the team consists of six dogs that search buildings\, protect officers and detect explosives and narcotics.\n\n	Now\, some of these dogs and their handlers officers in the Aurora Police Department will join Colorado Technical University to lead a public Community Safety Day on Tuesday\, Aug. 7 starting at 11:30 a.m.\n\n	The event is free\, open to the public\, and will be held at CTU's South Campus (3151 S. Vaughn Way\, Aurora\, CO 80014\, north parking lot). Families with children are especially encouraged to attend as the event will feature free fingerprinting and back-to-school safety tips for kids.\n\n	In addition to the family-friendly events\, attendees will be able to watch a K-9 presentation and also have an opportunity to look through the Aurora P.D.'s "fatal vision goggles\," which shows the effects of being under the influence of alcohol. No reservations are required.
